After the horrifying events and revelations of book one, I was almost scared to read the sequel. You know what they say about curiosity and the cat? Yeah. So. This story is set a year after the shocking end of book one, where Jack and Sean barely escape alive, and picks up the story line of aliens creating human-alien babies to help them take over the world. And yes, I’d definitely say you need to read book one first or risk not understanding what’s going on here.
Jack and Sean have fled to Mexico and are trying to stay hidden from the aliens. And even though they both have nightmares, they continue burying their heads in the sand, hoping the aliens will leave them alone. Then a few things happen that make them doubt they succeeded, and the action takes off. Blow after blow, one event chasing the next, the story took me through a roller coaster of emotions as Jack and Sean try to figure out what’s going on, stay alive, and defeat the aliens.
If you like scary stories that border on horror, if the intensity of an action/adventure combined with a psychological thriller is your thing, and if you’re looking for a read that is as brutal as it is adventurous and hot, then you will probably like this novella.
